What does a remote copy writer do?

Copy writing is most commonly known as writing the text for advertisements or marketing materials. While that is still a common task for copy writers, the position has evolved to now include website content as well. The number one job for effective copy writers is to write content that engages someone to create a desired outcome. Depending on the copy, outcomes could be everything from converting new customers to just driving brand awareness.

Remote copy writer's are normally tasked by companies around the world to write their content. Writing lends itself to being remote friendly because as long as you have access to some sort of text editor, you have an office. Many copy writer's freelance, but some companies are starting to move this role in house.

You have been working with a client in a different timezone. You jump on a call right away in the morning to go over some digital ads you wrote for them, get feedback, and decide next steps.

10:30 a.m. Website copy

The same client you just got off the phone with is wanting to launch a new micro-site in the next few weeks. They have tasked you with writing the copy so you start diving into that work.

12:30 p.m. Lunch

Your client had some feedback about the ads you wrote for them. You go over your notes and make changes to better reflect what they want.

2:30 p.m. Call with potential client

Being a freelancer, you are always possibly looking for new work. One of your current customers gave you a referral to a possible new client for web copy work.

You jump back into the web copy you were working on earlier in the day.
